March “Ode to Women” at Belgrade’s Silosi wraps up with a bazaar, a conference, and a new concept of city parties!

At the conference, projects by the Nordeus Foundation, the Center for the Promotion of Science, and Fempower will be presented, while the panels, among other things, will seek an answer to the question “How is a community built,” precisely through presenting multiple women’s organizations. As many as six of them, including Kuća umetnica, Haos Space, Pole Dance Fitness, and Shiva Shakti Yoga School, teamed up with Silosi so that throughout March they would have programs dedicated to women, so the program at Silosi opened on March 1 with the extremely well-attended exhibition “Revival” by the Women’s Architectural Society, accompanied by workshops and panels.

The very next, March 8 weekend also saw the festival of the feminine principle “Viva La Vulva,” which presented to the audience at Silosi more than 20 artists aged 20 to 75. The two-day program with its intriguing title brought numerous interactive activities, so the audience could watch the entire tattooing process live, icon painting being made, or try tufting, as well as dance along to the circus acrobatics of Cirkusfera! Our academic painter Svetlana Ninković encouraged visitors, including children, to work with her together on a large-format canvas, while TKV, our world-renowned artist decorated with the French Order of Arts, painted unique pieces of clothing on the spot that visitors brought. For a lecture on gender equality, a man was chosen, namely the famous psychologist and advisor to many successful people such as Novak Djokovic, Dr. Žarko Ilić.

The March 8 weekend was also an opportunity to introduce the new concept of parties at Silosi that start as early as 6 p.m. and last until midnight, so that everyone who loves going out and dancing in clubs has a chance to rest for tomorrow’s activities such as a day in nature, or right by the river in front of Silosi itself where the spring sun has already arrived in full. At these parties since the beginning of the month, Aleksandra Duende, Yelisaveta, Una Nikolić, Vanja Bursać, Iva Arifaj, and DJ Iron have performed, and the international contemporary electronic music festival Fields was also held, featuring Darla Smoking, Jay Glass Dubs, Will Laut, Holy Palms, and other artists from Ukraine, Russia, Greece, Croatia, and Serbia.

This Friday brings a new “Revive” party where painter Nikoleta Mihaljević will perform an art performance based on her rich body of work, while the music is in the hands of Popi Divine, Tinik, Ivandis, and Lilith Monroe. On Saturday, we can expect the always-packed “Full Moon” party with Una Senić, during which Vladica Čulić will finish his new work in a mixed collage technique on canvas, and the last weekend in March brings “Disko Vrisko!” and a retro party curated by Bege Fanka and Rebel B-a, as well as new graduation performances by the leading domestic DJ school Playground, whose “il professore” is Belgrade DJ veteran Petko.
